The Health Care Supply Association is dedicated to promoting the role and importance of supplies staff in cost-efficient supply chain management. The Association has a formal constitution and works through a Council made up of representatives from each of its Branches and promotes the work of procurement and logistics staff working in health care at all levels.
The Office of Government Commerce (OGC) is an independent office of HM Treasury, established to help Government deliver best value from its spending. The OGC works with the central Government departments and other public sector organisations to ensure the achievement of effective public spending.
The Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI) is the lead, and largest, industry association for the medical technology sector in the UK. They represent companies whose output makes up approximately 80% percent of the industry’s total.
The British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA) is the UK's oldest and largest healthcare association (founded in 1917). Its membership - of some 380 companies employing over 17,000 people - comprises both large and small businesses across the many non-pharmaceutical sectors of the healthcare industry; manufacturing, supplying and serving those with special physical needs and specialist healthcare areas.
The Centre consists of permanent and contracted research staff, administrative staff and post graduate research students, located within the School of Management. They research the use of different approaches to supplies and purchasing working with both private and public companies to come up with new innovative ways for carrying out efficient and effective purchasing and supplies management.
The NHS Plan recognises the need for the NHS to develop as an organisation, with innovation as an important part of growing and improving the NHS. The hub network was set up to support NHS Trusts and Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) by identifying and developing innovations that will benefit patients and society as a whole.

The NHS Technology Adoption Centre was created to increase the uptake of new technology in all areas of the NHS. Part of the Department of health, the Ministerial Medical Technology Strategy Group was established in accordance with the recommendation of the Healthcare Industries Task Force (HITF) Strategic Implementation Group (SIG). The Group takes forward all SIG recommendations and provides a strategic forum for joint discussion of other issues of importance.
Part of the Purchasing and Supplies Agency (PASA) CEP collates and supports evidence gathering to assist in the adoption of innovative technologies in health and social care. CEP underpins purchasing decisions by providing objective evidence to support the uptake of useful, safe, innovative products and related procedures in health and social care, covering all medical devices, patient safety technology, products on market or near market (post-CE marking) and all products used in health and social care.
